As we pointed out last week, it is often hard to use up small balances on prepaid debit cards. The same is true of gift cards. But, some states have laws that require you be given cash back when your balance falls under a certain amount like $5. Those laws seem to have fallen on deaf ears at Dunkin' Donuts according to a new lawsuit.
That is our Mouse Print* story this week.
A new third round of EIGHT free COVID home tests has been authorized by Uncle Sam to be distributed by the post office. To get eight more tests, visit covid.gov/tests . Remember also that Medicare Part B recipients can get eight free tests at many pharmacies every calendar month. Look at the section entitled "COVID-19 Over-the-Counter Tests."
Amazon Fresh stores are beginning to spread across the country. They have futuristic shopping carts with a display screen and multiple cameras and scanners that tabulate your bill as you put items in your cart (or remove them). Watch the demonstration.
A sim card is that little computer chip in your cellphone that contains your cell number. Crooks are now hijacking your phone number by convincing your carrier to switch service to a different company on a phone they control. With that done, they can use the "lost password" feature of your online bank to get access to your account. Don't give your bank your cell number as a alternative means of verification to avoid issues like this. One man lost his life's savings this way.
