Angie's List Under Fire for Promoting Only Advertisers as Top Picks
Angie's List, the service that helps you find quality providers of home services, is coming under fire by the Consumer Federation of America. In a new report, [full report is here] the consumer advocacy organization says Angie's List only recommends advertisers as "top-rated pros." Despite this, consumers who shop for a contractor by reading reviews of A-rated companies on their site can gain valuable assistance in separating the good ones from the bad ones. The other big contractor referral service, Home Advisor, [video] came under scrutiny last week after several local NBC TV stations around the country reported poor screening of companies listed on their service.
