Consumer World Original
This week, we take a break from serious consumer stuff in honor of April Fools' Day. Instead of hiding a negative about its product, these plant-based chicken nuggets just come out and say it in a bold headline.
That is our Mouse Print* story this week.
When MrConsumer is looking for a doctor in a new specialty whether for himself or a friend, he usually starts by checking the "Top Doctors" list in Boston Magazine or New York Magazine featuring Castle Connolly's top listings each year. C.C. is the leading provider of that information, creating its listings based on the recommendations of other doctors. Other companies have come out with their own "best doctor" and "super doctor" lists. This ProPublica story published a few years ago sheds light on this business of making doctor lists and may give you pause before putting a lot of faith in any of them. In addition to getting personal referrals if possible, it is always good to look for doctors' reviews posted by real patients at HealthGrades.com and Vitals.com. We do not recommend using ZocDoc.
[Ignore intrusive ad at the beginning.] Imagine picking up the cellphone, seeing on the caller ID that it is a your mother calling, and she is screaming. Then a man comes on the line and says he is holding her hostage! Read more about this scam.
