THIS PLAN HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AS OF 3/26/20

Consumer World is pleased to tell you about a new state to state long distance plan from ECG with very low prices and superior benefits:

  • 2.5¢ per minute, good 24 hours a day, state to state except HI and AK.

  • 6 second billing with an 18 second minimum. (This means if you talk for one minute and two seconds, you will be charged for one minute and six seconds, and not two minutes as you would be charged by most telephone companies.)

  • No high monthly fee like $4.95 or $5.95 -- it is $1.99 (plus a $2.99 reg. recovery fee and usual taxes).

  • No minimum usage.

  • Real phone lines used. Your calls are NOT routed over the Internet.

  • Billing: online billing, and pay via pre-arranged debit/credit card, or bank account.

  • Free personal 800 number (for non-vanity numbers) billed at the same 2.5¢ a minute rate. (This is a great benefit if you have kids in college or elderly parents who you want to be able to call you freely without them having to pay for the call.) Calls from payphones have a 53¢ surcharge.

  • Fast, responsive customer service based in the United States (no translators needed).

  • Refer-a-Friend(s) and get 5% of their monthly calling deducted from your bill (until your bill reaches zero)!

  • In-state local toll call rates vary, and are sometimes higher than your local phone company. Check the local toll rate. You are not required to sign-up for local toll service.

  • The only negative Consumer World can find is that you will not be reimbursed for the fee that your local telephone company charges to switch long distance carriers (normally about $5), and a 59¢ regulatory recovery charge is assessed on each bill.

Service is provided by ECG (Enhanced Communications Group) [++], which has been in business since 1997. For additional important information, try these frequently asked questions.

If you have additional questions, you can call 1-888-869-1141 (M-F, 8a-9p, Central time). If asked for a referral code, please provide the code: EDY.
