They Gave Away a Million Dollars to Scammers Despite Pleas by Family Members

In some cases, despite pleas from family members to wake up and recognize the cons, the men persisted. Both romance and money-making elements were part of these scams. As one victim - a doctor - told MrConsumer years ago when asked why he fell for the lies, he said "you want to believe."
